Lazy Jullee over the summer

Wow..no update since August! So so sad! We are doing good and really really enjoyed the summer. I found out that I am a lousy gardener! I planted 3 zucchini plants, 2 yellow squash plants, and 5 tomato plants. To this date I have grown 3 zucchini's, one yellow squash, and a handful of tomatoes. Pretty lame! In fact snails ate my first 2 zucchini plants! I hate snails!

In August we went to Yellowstone with our good friends Angie, Erich, and Owen. It was a fantastic vacay! Angie's Aunt and Uncle have a cabin in Island Park that we got to stay at. It was a very inexpensive and super fun trip and we hope they will invite us to do it again next year (hint hint). As a souvenir Zoe got a special Buffalo stuffed toy and she loves it so much! And it is hilarious listening to her say Buffalo..which sounds suspiciously similar to marshmallow.

Zoe had her pictures taken for 18 months old and they turned out pretty darn cute! She is such a sweet girl! I got her a cute little flower bow for her hair. But where she still doesn't have much hair and enjoyed playing with it it was hard to keep the bow in place. In fact I think it is in a different position in each picture.

We have now been in our house for a year!! And the day before our home warranty ran out we called about our finicky hot water heater and it was replaced for a small fee compared to what it would have cost us to replace it on our own! Nice!

We got another dog..this time a puppy and he is an all black Standard Poodle pup. He has been such a joy..now if only we can get him fully potty trained. We had a tough time naming him..it took about a week to finally come up with a name that both Cory and I could agree on. Where he is all black I thought a dark name would be good so we named him Lucius after Lucius Malfoy in Harry Potter. Great dog!

That's about it..I hope I post more coming up cause my blog is pretty boring right now.

Super Duper Summer

Summer is just whizzing by and I haven't found the time to blog much. I guess twice in summer 2009 will have to be good enough. And who knows...there still might be time to get one more in before August is over. We have been having a very fun summer. Zoe is so big now (18 months!!) that it makes everything so much more fun. There is way too many pictures to show so here we go!!

Zoe and Cory playing in the Gateway Fountains

Zoe loves playing in the fountains!!

Us at the 4th of July Parade

4th of July cousins

Zoe lucked out and caught a delicious taffy. After this the parade became a lot more fun to this child. Did I mention that Cory handed the baby one of those pop's that you throw at the ground and they pop. Well being a baby the first thing she did was stick it in her mouth. That wasn't my favorite moment of the day.

Zoe's first sparklers!!

Zoe loves to play with her Belly Button, it is basically her comfort item. Here she is playing with her Button in "Hawaii" our kiddie water toy.

Zoe loves "Hawaii" in the summertime!

Zoe at a petting zoo loving on a goat. She had so much fun..playing with pigs, goats, sheep, geese, ducks, and even got a pony ride.

Zoe and Pammy watching ducks at Gardner Village.

Zoe roaming around at Gardner Village.

Grandma Pam and Zoe at the Rodeo!! Zoe loved it and can't wait till she gets a chance to do some serious mutton bustin!!

And finally..Cory playing drums in a recent rock'n'roll show.

Big ouchie and random goings on

It's been a little while since I last blogged. We've had a few adventures that I wanted to write about. Early in May we went to the park to feed ducks with some stale bread. The bread had gone a little moldy but I figured the ducks would still like it. When we got to the park we were excited to see lots of soft, fuzzy, yellow goslings! They were so darn cute! We had lots of fun feeding the animals and when I gave Zoe some bread to throw out she decided that she needed to snack on it. So gross! She was just loving on the stale slightly moldy bread. What a funny little girl.

Also during May we had a contractor come to our house to add insulation to our attic. It was supposed to be a really quick thing. He would come and add the insulation which would take a couple hours and be done. Well, things didn't go so smoothly...he ended up stepping through the ceiling in my bedroom while I was in there working. He didn't fall through but his leg came clear through and made a giant hole! It scared me so bad that I'm sure I yelled out in surprise. So what should have taken a couple of hours ended up taking almost a week! The guy, Ron, was so nice but for some reason he worked so slowly. He eventually finished and the patch looks mostly good.

I turned 28 on May 8 and am sad that my twenties are almost over! I'm not ready to be 30 so I better enjoy my last 2 years! For my Birthday Cory let me get a dog. I've been wanting a dog for a while now so I was very excited to look at dogs. We decided to go check at the pound and see what they had. They had a few cute dogs to choose from. Cory had his eye on a Pit Bull and I had my eye on a Bichon Frise mix. Cory's choice was huge and beautiful and strong..while my choice was small, white, and fuzzy. Because it was my Birthday gift and we have a small baby we decided to go for the Bichon Frise mix named Pierre he is about 5 years old. He is a sweet Dog but he has some bad habits that we are going to try to train out of him. He loves to eat garbage which we don't like. But other than that he is a great dog so far.

On Memorial Day we had an interesting day. It started out with us shopping and having a little fun with my sister and her family. Then we went to a park in Draper where we watched the Air Force Band play. It was such a nice concert and Zoe had so much fun walking around and listening to the music. We saw the show with Zoe's Great Grandparents who we love spending time with.

That evening we decided to go visit Zoe's Grandma Pam. We were outside playing with Pierre and Kona, Grandpa Larry's dog. Grandma Pam, the Great grandparents, and Cory were all sitting on a brick planter that my Mom has Snap Dragons planted in. Little Zoe was walking around and just having a great time. She started to walk towards my Mom with a big old grin on her face and just as she was about to reach my Mom she tripped and plunged right into the brick planter with her little head. She hit right between her eyes at the top of her nose and it was the most awful sound I have ever heard! I had been playing with the Dogs so I ran over to where my Mom was holding the baby and saw that my Mom's shirt was covered in blood!

I ran into the house and got a wet cloth to put on the baby's head and we hussled to the local clini because the hospital was much further away. So we get to the clinic and the baby was so upset and crying. I tried to calm her down by singing her favorite song, The ABC's, over and over. We had to wait a while and she eventually started to calm down. About that time the Doctor was ready to stitch the baby up. It was the most horrible thing ever! They swaddled her up and turned a big light on her head which made her so upset. Then we had myself, my Mom, Cory, and the nurse all trying to hold the baby down while the Doctor did the stitches. That Zoe is a fighter! She didn't want to be part of any of that and she was using all her force to try and stop us. I started to get very nauseous and thought I was going to pass out and vomit at the same time so I had to leave the room. But then I felt really bad that I had left my baby when she was so upset and having such a traumatic moment. So I went back in the room but got sick again and had to leave again. I laid down on the nasty clinic's bathroom floor and just tried to calm down. It was weird I broke out in a cold sweat and was just feeling awful. But I got things together and was able to go back in and help hold the baby for the last stitches. Zoe ended up getting 2 or 3 deep stitches and 3 surface stitches. Cory and I are going today to get the stitches out and hopefully there will only be a little scar if any. Zoe has been such a trooper with this whole thing. I just hope this is the only experience we'll ever have with her and stitches or anything traumatic!

Enjoy the video of her new trick and you can see her stitches again.

California Trip!!

So we have been back from Anaheim for a little while and I figure it's time to blog about our trip. We had so much fun!! The end.

Ha ha! Just teasing..well we did have so much fun but kidding about the "the end" part. We flew to LA and I was scared that Zoe would be a menace on the airplane. Where she is under 2 we were able to have her sit on our laps which saved us some dinero but we were a little nervous to see if we would have another person sharing our seats who would be mean or grumpy about the baby. Luckily the plane wasn't full and the guy who was supposed to sit by us was able to move to another seat. Zoe was pretty good just a little fussy because she had limited space to move around. I really wanted her to take a nap and she finally fell asleep..when we landed. So she snoozed until we got to the rental car place. We got the car and rode to Anaheim..a funny story about the rental car. We shared a mini van with my sister and her family which meant we were good and squished in. Cory and I sat in the back seat and when I was all situated I noticed that the previous individual who sat in that seat had used the back of the headrest in front of them as a place to wipe boogers!! It was so gross! They had also colored all over the cup holder/arm rest space with crayon. So as we checked out we told the car rental people and they basically told us that they are only worried about dents so no problem with boogers! So gross!

Our first park to visit was California Adventure Park and we loved it so much!! We went to the super cute Bugs Life section and had a blast going on rides with Zoe. She loved all the rides and just giggled and had a blast. Then Cory and I went on Tower of Terror with my brother Matt while everyone else watched the kids. That ride was lots and lots of fun!! Cory was very scared and me, I just loved it all. The story was neat, the ride was scary/ awesome, and the employees were fun. Good ride!My Aunt Sherrie Meeting and loving Woody!
She was so excited to meet him!

Then we found a little play spot and spent most of the day there. Zoe went on slides and played all around. It was the perfect place to let her get down and just play off some energy. I think in all we went on 3 adult rides (Tower of Terror, Soarin over California, and a swing ride in an orange) but we had lots of fun.

The next day we went to Disneyland and loved it! Before going to the park we ate breakfast at Goofy's kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel. There were a few characters roaming around and they did some fun things where kids could come up and bang pots with Goofy. Zoe had fun meeting the characters..and Goofy even enjoyed a sip from her sippy cup! Very fun.
Pammy and Zoe in their adorable matching Minnie dresses.

Then we went to the park and had a day full of fun. Zoe loved every ride she went on. We went on Pirates of the Carribean several times and she wasn't scared at all. I got Cory a really cute Peter Pan hat that came with a cute red feather. He looked very dapper in the hat. One sad thing about Disneyland is that Disney characters don't roam around to meet people! You have to stand in line at a designated spot to get a picture with any of them. We wanted some princess pictures but the line was over 2 hours long!! But we did get a picture of Zoe in her cute Minnie Mouse dress with Miss Minnie!
Zoe fell asleep like this!! What a funny girl!

The next day we went to the Beach with my brother and Zoe LOVED the beach!!! She is such a little beach bum..and she was so darn cute in her alligator swimsuit. She is such a riot! It was a warm day but the water was pretty cold. Despite the water being chilly Zoe just wanted to play play play. It was so much fun watching her laugh and frolic on the beach.

Our last day we went back to Disneyland and played in Fantasyland a lot more. Zoe got to go on more rides this day but it was the hottest day of the trip. We had to go sit in the saloon for an hour and a half which was good cause we got to see the funny Billy Hill and the Hillbillies. We decided to wait in the princess picture line while Zoe was napping which was okay because it was in the shade and by the time we got to the front Zoe had a pretty decent nap. We met Cinderella, Aurora, and Ariel. I really wanted to see Snow White but we didn't get that lucky. It was a fun last day in Cali.

The flight home was really good..Zoe fell asleep about the time the flight took off and woke up just after we landed. Talk about an easy breezy flight.

All in all it was such a great trip!! We can't wait for our next family Vacation!!

Easter Adventures

I know it's a little late to be posting about Easter..but we've had a busy couple weeks. Easter was so much fun! Zoe is such a cute, fun little girl. She has taken her first steps by the way..she hasn't moved beyond a couple steps and standing on her own yet but I feel like it will happen soon! Back to Easter..after church we had a nice brunch with my sister's family and my parents. Zoe loves playing at her Auntie Ho Ho's house, so eating brunch there was even better than usual. We had some tasty food and we all ate way too much.

After brunch we had an Easter egg hunt for Zoe with eggs full of mini Nilla wafers, Bee graham cookies, mini fig newtons, and froot loops cereal. Zoe didn't really get a chance to search for the eggs because her trusty sidekick Pamela ran around and scooped them all up. But Zoe still enjoyed the eggs and being outside. Pamela got a slide and I helped Zoe go down and she just loved that! She was giggling and having so much fun. It was such a great Easter!Us with my Dad's dog, Kona.

These last pictures are of Zoe terorizing my office..she pretty much trashes the room each day before her nap while I work. She loves it so I don't mind at all..plus it keeps her happy and busy so I can get some work done.

Blog Slacker

So I have been a big time blog slacker. Life gets busy with baby, work, husband, cooking, pretending to clean, sleeping, and watching tv. It's hard to find time to blog. But I am here now and hoping you will all forgive me.

Not much has been going on in our neck of the woods. No exciting news or adventures in the past month or so. We are gearing up to go on vacation later this month..Disneyland here we come!! We are pretty excited little monkeys. Zoe doesn't even know the fun we have in store for her. I just hope she has fun..being as young as she is I'm not sure that she'll truly appreciate all the princess glory that So Cal has in store for her. Cory is darn excited because Disneyland doesn't have any scary rides that I'll make him go on with me. One time we went to an amusement park called "Great America " and Cory had his friend Brandon come be my ride partner so Cory didn't have to go on the scary rides. Cory is a super ride chicken..he gets scared going on the trolley ride at Lagoon that takes you from one side of the park to the next. So with rides like "It's a Small World" and "Pirates of the Caribbean" Cory will be safe.

Last month Zoe was a sick little lady. We had to go to the Doctors a few times which made me sad. She had a pretty nasty cold and we went to the Doctor and it turns out she had an ear infection also. So we got her on an antibiotic and things were looking up...

Until one morning we woke up to a Polka Dot baby!! Zoe had a rash all over and of course it was a Sunday morning! So I called my Doctors office and talked to an on call nurse who said not to worry about it just to stop the antibiotic and come in the next morning. Well easy for her to say.. she didn't have to watch a miserable baby all day. She was so upset and miserable that I called again and they had us come in to a special Sunday night clinic where they have an on call Doctor come in and see all patients that are terribly ill that day. Well we get in to the Doctor and it turns out that Zoe is allergic to the Penicillin. We had already stopped giving her the drugs so we now just had to wait while the rash cleared up.

It was a rough few days...Poor Zoe was so miserable, fussy, and upset. I gave her some itching medicine and a special oatmeal bath to try and help her. It ended up taking 3 days to clear up so at least it didn't last TOO long. Heather was sure it was a horrible, incurable rash that would spread to her house and children so she wouldn't let us visit for a whole week after the rash cleared up. But now she's back to her happy self again and we know next time no penicillin for Zoe.

Oh...another thing that happened was that my favorite singer and gem sweater lover, Leslie and the Ly's came to town for a concert. It was excellent. I read on a website that it started at 10:00 pm so I wasn't worried about time. The singer really does love gem sweaters so Heather and I sat and bedazzled sweaters for me and Cory (Heather made a really sweet one for herself with a horse on it) for three hours. Well while I was bedazzling I got a message from my friend who was coming along saying that the show started at 7 not 10:00!!! It was 7:30 and I freaked out. I was sure we were going to miss the show. So we threw on our sweaters and hustled it to the show and ended up making it just in time for Leslies lady jams. It was a great show!!! After the show we got to visit with Leslie and she loved the sweaters. It was an excellent night!
